Position: Specialist: Strategic Sourcing

Location: Centurion, Gauteng

Position Purpose:

The Specialist: Strategic Sourcing supports sourcing initiatives, supplier evaluation, and commercial analysis to drive cost‑effective procurement within the HPU. The role assists in executing sourcing events, conducting market and spend analysis, preparing commercial recommendations, and ensuring procurement compliance. The Specialist collaborates with internal stakeholders and suppliers to optimize value, mitigate risk, and support category strategies.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Health sciences degree (e.g. BSc, Nursing, Biomedical Science, Biotechnology).
  • Professional procurement certification (CIPS, CPSM, SCM, etc.). (Advantageous)
  • 2–5+ years in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or supply chain leadership.
  • Experience in complex or regulated industries (healthcare, insurance, finance, public sector) is an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and updating category strategies across key spend areas.
  • Conduct spends analysis, basic cost modelling, and supply market research to identify sourcing opportunities.
  • Support the development of sourcing pipelines aligned with cost, quality, and risk objectives.
  • Assist with end‑to‑end sourcing events, including RFI/RFP preparation, supplier evaluations, and recommendation summaries.
  • Support competitive bidding processes, negotiation preparation, and award documentation.
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with procurement governance requirements and audit standards.
  • Support supplier engagement activities, including performance monitoring, SLA tracking, and escalation of concerns.
  • Assist with contract drafting, reviews, record maintenance, and identification of supplier or commercial risks.
  • Engage business units to understand procurement needs and support communication of sourcing decisions and commercial insights.
  • Use procurement systems and analytics tools to extract data, track savings and KPIs, and prepare reports for governance forums
