Ensuring appropriate care and follow-up
The Private Health Administrators™ Oncology Risk Management programme is administered by Registered Professional Nurses who handle all cases and provide a personalised service to the member.
PHA has a detailed oncology treatment policy which can be customised according to scheme benefits. Requests from doctors are reviewed against specialist recommended treatment guidelines developed by the SA Oncology Consortium (SAOC) which are graded into different tiers of treatment based on levels of evidence and cost effectiveness.
The PHA Nurse ensures appropriate care and follow-up and assists in referring treatment requests which fall outside of protocols to the Clinical Committee and in presenting exceptional or Ex- gratia requests for members. Where a scheme has limits our Nurses will negotiate on behalf of the scheme and patient to manage costs and fees.
