Minimising pregnancy and confinement risks through individual attention
The Private Health Administrator™ (PHA) Maternity programme differs from many other Maternity programmes in that it seeks to extend beyond a member retention and loyalty programme to a personalised risk management programme aimed at ensuring that pregnancy and confinement risks are identified and minimised and to assist mothers and fathers with preparing for childbirth.
The programme hinges on education and understanding of the processes and changes that are occurring throughout the pregnancy to reduce the occurrence of premature births and unnecessary procedures which are taxing to both the family and the medical scheme.
The programme includes risk identification and regular interaction between PHA Registered Midwives and pregnant beneficiaries to mitigate risks to ensure:
- Appropriate ante-natal care
- HIV transmission minimized
- Delivery choices understood
- Preparation for childbirth
- Post-natal support
This interaction is supported by educational material and an employer or Scheme elected SMS contact system. The usual baby bags, gifts, book, and treats are included as incentives according to the Scheme’s requirements.
